Solar

Our star provides provides a superb imaging target using special filters such as the hydrogen alpha filter used to capture these images below. Using this type of filter allows us to see the Sun's chromosphere as well as a host of other spectacular features such as prominences and filaments. Of course we must never view the sun through a telescope or other optical instrument without using the correct type of filter, but provided the right equipment is employed then the views that can be enjoyed of our star are truly spectacular. It also makes a pleasant change to do some astrophotography during daylight hours!!
