Planetary > Saturn

Saturn is a wonderful planet to view and image and always presents with a certain amount of the 'wow' factor!!
Due to the current low altitude in the UK and the decreasing elevation for some years to come, taking high resolution images presents with more of a challenge due to the additional atmosphere and turbulence we have to peer through. Good seeing conditions can still be had, though it takes more dedication to be out at every possible opportunity where conditions look favourable with the hope of catching those steady skies. When conditions are difficult an IR pass filter can improve the image due to the wavelengths of light allowed through the filter being less susceptible to atmospheric disturbances. In better conditions a red imaging filter will produce the most detailed image.
